GRP handrail systems provide a long-lasting, low maintenance solution for pedestrian access routes and guarding in harsh industrial environments. Manufactured from ISO FR Polyester Resin Class 2 Glass-Reinforced Polymer (GRP), these systems offer excellent resistance to corrosion, chemicals, and impact, while also providing key safety benefits such as non-conductivity and not being cold to the touch.
At Barclay & Mathieson, we supply a complete range of round and square GRP handrail components, suitable for any handrail layout. Whether you’re building a simple guardrail or a complex elevated walkway, our GRP handrail solutions are designed to support safe working practices and provide reliable long-term performance.

We offer an extensive range of GRP handrail clamps to suit virtually all connection requirements and handrail layout. Clamps are quick to assemble using a simple hexagon key, making them ideal for a fast on site installation.
Typical clamp options include:
All clamps:

Our high-quality 5mm thick GRP tube is suitable for use as the stanchion post, handrail or knee rail part of a handrail system and compatible with our full range of GRP clamps.

Where a square handrail profile is preferred, we supply a robust GRP box section.
For improved comfort and grip, we also supply GRP Ergonomic Handrails that fit over our 50 x 50mm box section to create a more user-friendly top rail.

To simplify installation and ensure consistent geometry on site, we supply pre-fabricated GRP vertical handrail posts in both round and square profiles. These are ideal for projects where speed of installation and consistent quality are important, including walkways, platforms, stair landings and service access routes.
